Categories of Pruning
Pruning can be broadly classified into two categories:
1) Gentle Pruning and 2) Gentle Pruning
Soft Pruning
Soft pruning is applicable for indoor plants or small-growth plants involving the removal of small parts of the plant.
Gentle Pruning
Soft pruning is applicable for outdoor plants or huge amounts of growth plants involving the removal of large parts of fixed plants of fruits, flowers, and vegetables.
Why Plant Pruning is Important?
- To increase the physical growth of the tree, flower-fruit-bearing capacity, production capacity and quality of the fruit.
- Unnecessary, weak dry twigs or diseased twigs of the tree should be pruned so that light and air circulation is normal in all parts of the tree.
- Trees that have flower fruit-bearing problems need pruning to increase their bearing capacity and to help new branches grow.
- The branches that are tilted downwards should be cut so that the base of the tree does not become bushy, protecting the plant from disease, insects, and fungi.
- Collecting pesticides, and fungicide sprayed seams and making pens can be done easily.
- Roof garden trees on the top will be small. So, it should be kept short or dwarfed by pruning the long stalks growing upwards.
- Such pruning will make the tree look beautiful. it will also be easy to apply fertilizer water, give medicine, or collect flowers and fruits.
- Water shoots can be seen emerging from the roots of guava, pomegranate, lemon trees, etc. need to be regularly.
- The tree needs to be strengthened so that it does not overturn in storms or strong winds and the stalks do not break.
When the Plant Pruning Apply?
- It is usually best to prune fruit trees at the end of the monsoon and before winter. However, the tree should be pruned after collecting the fruits.
- If it grows too much in the rainy season, then the trees should be pruned even at this time.
- In monsoon, some fruit trees become very tall within a few months. In such cases, it should be pruned 2 and ½ feet above the ground.
- It is not advisable to prune the tree before flowering or during fruiting.
- Praveen should not be done during extreme heat or winter these can lead to dieback disease. Moreover, most of the trees are in a dormant period in winter.
Precautions for Pruning:
- Always cut with sharp scissors or pruner. If the cut is blunt, the stem cells of the tree can be damaged during cutting.
- If there is rust or dirt in the pruner, it can cause a bacterial attack on the plant. Before using scissors or a pruner, it must be sanitized.
- Do not cut green stalks but cut wood or mature stalks. If the tree is young, it is better to do light pruning or soft pruning. Gentle pruning can kill the trees.
- You have to try to cut the branch at one chance. When cutting the place does not get crushed or the skin does not tear.
- The branches of the tree cannot be cut horizontally. The prune should be tilted 45 degrees.
- When cutting diseased stalks, not only the affected part should be cut, but also the Green Party should be cut down.
- The knot from which the new stalks emerge should be cut half an inch above then the new Stalks will grow from the knot.
What to do after Pruning?
- After pruning apply Bordeaux paste or fungicide paste on the cut stalks. Moreover, Fevicol tar or raw cow dung can be applied.
- After Pruning, apply an organic manner at the base of the tree and a little urea should be spread in water.
- After cutting, the branches of the tree seedlings can be made by cutting from it.
- Trimmed tree branches and leaves can be used to make leaf compost.
Remember
- The branches of a tree that has flowers or buds cannot be cut.
- If Hibiscus, Jasmine, Kunda, and Kamini are pruned, the newer branches will sprout, the more flowers there will be. In this case, soft pruning should be done during the flowering season, Gentle pruning is required in the off-season.
- Trees like kachchampa, korbi, bougainvillea, adenium, etc. should be pruned Gentle at this time.
- In the case of vegetable trees many new branches emerge by pinching.
